Cody Lynn Macy - Lead Vocals
From the time Cody Lynn Macy could walk and talk, she has been entertaining audiences. She is an Arizona native and despite all of the traveling she has done in her life, she knows it is where her roots will always lie. Cody recorded her first album in Texas at the age of 9 and her second in Nashville at 12. She graduated high school at age 14 and had her AAS in Music Business by 2006. Throughout her life, Cody has spent a lot of time on the road fronting her own bands and performing as much as she could. She has performed multiple times at Country Thunder, both in Arizona and Wisconsin, and has opened for the likes of Charlie Daniels, Martina McBride, and Neal McCoy. She also records and performs with popular KLME radio hosts Tim and Willy and their All Earl Band. Even with her past accomplishments, Desert Dixie has given Cody Lynn a new and exciting way to flex her creative muscles and an outlet to really show her musical chops.
J.T. Hubbell - Lead Vocals, Guitar
A proud Arizona native, J.T. was raised in a family where get-togethers often began and ended with everyone singing around a piano or guitar. It wasn’t until age 16 that he really pursued a musical path though. At the age of 19, J.T. packed his bags and took off for Nashville to learn about the craft of songwriting. Soon he was playing songwriter nights and showcases with some of the musicians he grew up admiring. J.T. learned not only how to write better songs and how to be a better player, but also how to truly entertain an audience while in Nashville. After the short time in Music City, J.T. stayed busy during college playing around Arizona as a solo act as well as with bands. Then, of course, he connected with Cody Lynn and eventually pursued Desert Dixie full force. J.T. was a finalist in the Young Guns contest held at Arizona's Country Thunder in 2004 and is a regular featured artist on the internet radio station www.toginet.com.
GARY RIVERs - Bass Guitar
Born in Chicago, IL but raised just outside of Dallas, TX, Gary has been surrounded by music since day one. His mom was usually on the piano or singing around the house (too bad Gary didn't get blessed with a great singing voice). At age 14, Gary was watching MTV and the video for Great White's Once Bitten Twice Shy came on and he knew the bass was the ticket! For his 15th birthday his parent's got him a bass and he was playing his first gigs by the time he was 16. Gary has played in several local bands including Chad Freeman and Redline, Matt Bigler and the Hillbilly Sophisticates, as well as nationally touring rock bands in Dallas, TX (Preston Grey, Track 10, Fishing for Comets), and regionally touring bands in Michigan (Mandi Layne and the Lost Highway). Gary has had the privilege of recording in some of the best studios in the nation including Dark Horse Studios in Nashville (bass, B3, mandolin, accordion) and Sun Studios in Memphis (upright bass). Gary has shared the stage with some of the best bands in the business (and was even a member of The Lost Trailers for a day) and that has fueled his desire to play, but the music and comaraderie of being in a band is still the most important thing.
Greg Ahmann - Lead Guitar, Vocals
Born in Ft Wayne Indiana, Greg moved west with his family and found home in the small town of Winslow, AZ. Drawn to music at an early age, he began playing saxophone in the elementary school band but not long after picked up his older brothers guitar and quickly absorbed anything his brother (or anyone else for that matter) would show him. Taking up bass to fill a spot with a local band, Greg played his first gig at 15, but would eventually return to guitar, gigging around the local dives of Winslow and Northern Arizona. Eventually moving to Hollywood, California to attend Musician’s Institute, then moved back to Arizona after graduation and found his home here in the Valley of the Sun. Greg has taught guitar lessons, played and recorded with several local bands around the Valley, most recently A Boy Named Sioux, and is now Desert Dixie’s newest member.
Austin Scates - Drums
Austin was born and raised in Arizona. He began playing the drums at age 9, with sticks, paint buckets and books on Funk, Jazz, and Rock drumming. His passion for drums has taken him through many musical endeavors, such as studio/live drumming for popular local artists, and touring with the Arizona Academy drum and bugle corps. Austin studies drums/percussion and has worked with drum mentors Glen Crosby, Ryan Masterson, Fred Smith, Wes Anderson, and Bart Ferguson.
